Some of you may or may not know but my road to marathon and beyond hit a slight bump in the road. I haven’t run in over 3 weeks!
During the Tarpley20, I was suffering with a soreness in my knee from about 15 miles in. Ouch ouch, I thought but my pace didn’t drop. I crossed the line at a sprint and hobbled a bit after. However a trail run about 1 week later resulted in one very unhappy Christian as well as a newly sore knee.
So after a trip to the physio, exercises in hand. I’ve embarked on 2.5 weeks of gym and hot yoga.
Tonight was the first run. To say I was nervous is an underestimate. I took it steady along the bridle way then ducked down onto Willen Lake. It was a little boggy…. so I took my shoes off and went full barefoot.
4.5km later, I am a very happy camper again and just a wee bit muddy but grinning like a loon.
Injury is part of the journey and the journey takes work, you can’t coast it.
2 weeks to 26.2miles, here’s to it!!
